The Blacksburg Broadband Task Force was formed in 2011. Its charge is to explore how world-class community telecommunications infrastructure can be provided to the town for its private and corporate citizens, as well as government entities. The town envisions an operational network by 2015, with commitments from community stakeholders and a common vision to make gigabit bandwidth available to all citizens of Blacksburg.

Town Council

Text Box: It will be no surprise to learn that most of the work of Town Council takes place on days other than the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. Most councilors serve as liaisons on appointed committees or boards where they are expected to faithfully represent the town’s interests while facilitating communication. In addition, a councilor may serve as a working member of a committee or task force. I am presently appointed to the committees listed below.

These appointments reflect my fundamental interest in community and economic development. As Vice Mayor from 2008 -- 2010, I also served on the Blacksburg-Virginia Tech Liaison Committee; the Town-County Liaison Committee; the Blacksburg Partnership; New River Valley Agency on Aging; and the Downtown Revitalization Committee.
